bookto checkout works with Mollie, a European payment provider. You don't need a verified business account to explore bookto checkout. Before you fill in your VAT number or connect a live payment account, you can build a product, see exactly what your buyer sees, and run a simulated payment — all in test mode.
What you need: a Mollie test key
A Mollie test key is free and available immediately — no business verification required.
How to get one
- Go to mollie.com and create a free account. You only need an email address to get started.
- Once logged in, go to Developers → API keys in the left sidebar.
- You'll see two keys: a Live API key and a Test API key. The test key starts with test_.
- Copy the test key.
Mollie will ask for business details at some point to activate live payments — but your test key works immediately, before any of that.
